Overview

For over fifteen years, Robinson has walked one-inch highlines strung across canyons, sea cliffs, and towers in more than fifteen countries across six continents — from the granite spires of Brazil to the sea cliffs of Tasmania, the desert arches of Utah, and the towers of China.^[1][3] His crossings and world-record attempts have been covered by outlets including CNN, KRDO, ABC10, and Visit California, and he has been featured as a sponsored athlete by brands including GoPro and Black Diamond.^{[1][3][8][10]}

Highlining career

Robinson works full-time as a professional highliner and adventure athlete, traveling to remote locations to rig and walk highlines and to document the sport.^[1] Reported career highlights include the longest highline he has walked, at one mile, and a 704-foot crossing completed blindfolded.^[3] His walks have taken place across six continents over fifteen years in the sport.^[1]

World record — American River, Folsom (2019)

On May 4, 2019, in his hometown of Folsom, California, Robinson walked a highline measuring 1,919 feet across the American River, roughly 50 feet above the water, crossing between the Natomas Crossing and the city’s historic Rainbow (truss) Bridge. The walk was a world record for the longest highline between two bridges, walked in front of 10,000 spectators and broadcast on live television.^[4][5][6][7]

Endurance sport

Before highlining, Robinson spent roughly a decade in endurance sport. He has reported completing more than 100 triathlons without a DNF, including the Ironman, and finishing the Race Across America (RAAM) on an eight-person relay team in a reported time of six days, two hours, and 28 minutes.^[13]

Television & media

Robinson has appeared four times on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, reaching the national finals twice.^[12] His highlining has been the subject of features by CNN Travel (article and video, 2021), KRDO, and California’s official tourism board, Visit California, and he has appeared on programs including the Today Show Australia.^[1][2][3][9]
