The third expedition runs across Iceland — a young volcanic island still being built, under a sun that barely sets in late summer.
This is raw, new land: lava fields, black-sand deserts, glacier tongues, geothermal valleys and canyons of columnar basalt. Rift valleys mark the seam where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart.
The interior highlands are roadless and elemental, while the coast is stacked with waterfalls, sea stacks and fjords.

Our August window is the tail of the Icelandic summer: temperatures around 45–60°F and near-endless daylight, with the sun skimming the horizon rather than setting.
